Frank Deschandol’s Photos Uncover the Some of the World’s Most Elusive Insects and Arthropods

French photographer Frank Deschandol has held a lens up to wildlife for the last three decades. Journeying to opposite corners of the world in search of remarkable species, Deschandol’s main goal is to highlight the existence of rare and little-known creatures for others to enjoy.

“I’m above all a naturalist who came logically to photography, not the other way around,” he explains. “I’ve always had a strong connection with nature, and I couldn’t live without traveling and discovering new places.”

Although his unique observations may be small in size, Deschandol’s encounters are no small feat, leaving no stone unturned to find and photograph such specimens. Donning electric blue thoraces, frosty white setae, and transparent wings evocative of stained glass, each insect and arthropod has a distinctive guise that elicits an “unforgettable feeling” when capturing such elusive, striking wonders.
